Shakespeare in the Woods

Shakespeare in the Woods

A Midsummer Night's Dream, a group of blue collar workers meet to prepare and present a play within a play for the Duke's wedding reception.  Their process reveals a myriad of insights into the nature of storytelling.

The participants in this workshop, through a series of improvisations and dramatic readings, will explore the rules of performance as Shakespeare saw them.  The issues of props, costume, overacting and hostile audience will be discussed and a presentable version of the piece will be developed.
